A hugely successful Offshore Europe 2013, but what next for the UKCS…. ?

Offshore Europe 2013 was a tremendous success – a true showcase for the global Oil & Gas industry  and for Aberdeen, the UK &  European oil capital, with 63,000 visitors (25% up on 2011) and 1500 exhibitors from 37 countries over 4 days.

Exciting times ahead now for the global Oil & Gas industry,  but with  a number of key challenges. For the UKCS in particular, a boom is underway with renewed optimism for the ‘next 50 years’  and record levels of investment.  However, mass skills shortages reported this year threaten to burst the bubble and with 120,000 new staff required over the next 10 years, how is the industry going to meet the demand for skills ?
